Samsung H200 HD Camcorder

My quest for a camcorder continues, and of course Amazon is more than happy to send me newsletters containing all kinds of different options. How kind! The latest one they emailed me about is the Samsung H200, which has a 20x optical zoom, a 2.7" view screen and the ability to take 4.7 MP stills. It's not the helmet cam of my dreams though guys - this would be a little tough to strap to my head.

Kodak Zi8 Pocket Video Camera

These days, it feels pretty rare to find a good piece of electronics for under a hundred bucks, but right now that's how much Kodak's Zi8 pocket camcorder is going for. It looks about the size of a cell phone and could be comparable to something like the Flip, right down to the 1080 HD video, but for a lower price. If you're on a budget and you need a hyper-portable video camera, this could be your jammy. Only 30 fps means you won't be sharing any super slo-mo vids, but if that's the only sacrifice it seems worth it.

Sanyo VPC-WH1 HD Waterproof Flash Memory Camcorder

I've been on a bit of a camcorder tear lately as I try to figure out which will be the best option for a camcorder to replace my only current video-recording capabilities, which are on my still camera and my phone. I've looked at a lot of camcorders recently and the Sanyo VPC-WH1 has a lot going for it - flash memory, HD recording (720p, 30 frames per second), and the fact it's waterproof up to ten feet. It's got a 30x optical zoom, and you can still use it to capture stills to your SD or SDHC card.

On top of all that it's on sale at Amazon at the time of this writing for around $130, which is almost 70% off its typical price of $399. Guess I might have to make my camcorder decision sooner than I thought - though some of the reviews lead me to believe this camera may not be quite as "waterproof" as you might like, it's a good price, especially if you're just looking for something you can take in the rain instead of snorkeling.
