Ality Digital Picture Frames: Wireless Pixxa is King

So while Ality doesn't enjoy the brand name cache that certain competitors do, they've got a great lineup of top-notch digital photo frames. They've got 4 design lines: Pixxa, Moderna, Pictura and Classica -- these come in a variety of colors and styles including a mirror feature. Some models are available on Amazon.com but the higher-end frames can be hard to find so we suggest contacting Ality directly to avoid a goose chase.

Wireless Pixxa: Wi-Fi Makes it Better (Amazon $299.99)
Announced in December, the Wireless Pixxa frame allows you to receive digital images directly to the frame using an application called "Photo Messenger" -- similar to instant messaging. You can even have multiple user accounts in the frame so family members can keep their own customized multimedia libraries. Via the Internet, you can use the frame to send and receive photos and chat live with friends and family or subscribe to video feed for news, traffic, weather and more. You also get an online account where you can manage and store up to 50MB of photos. There's also a feature to create and send greeting cards. Best of all, Ality provides all these services free of charge. (Many companies charge a subscription fee for sending files via frames.) 8-inch LCD display, 4:3 aspect ratio, 800x600 display resolution, supports JPG, BMP and audio and video (MPEG) files, built-in 128MB memory, touch screen and remote control.

Color Pixxa: Simple and Fun (Amazon $99.99)
The Color Pixxa series features vibrant colors, plug-and-play ease of use and an affordable price. Simply insert a memory card and get started with the remote control. Features an auto-tilting screen that detects horizontal or vertical images and tilts the screen to best display them. Remember, this frame only works with memory cards, it does not connect to the computer. 7-inch LCD display, 16:9 aspect ratio, 480x234 display resolution, supports JPG format up to 10 megapixels, remote control.

Pixxa: Packed with Features (Amazon $159.99)
Styled like the Color Pixxa, this model is more complex with features like a clock, alarm, photo-scheduler and handles video and audio files. We love the touch screen and auto-tilt feature. 8-inch LCD display, 16:9 aspect ratio (also offered in 4:3), 800x480 display resolution, supports JPG, BMP and audio and video (MPEG) files, built-in 2 GB memory, touch screen and remote control.

Pictura: Gallery Quality Display ($250-450 contact Ality to buy)
This is a uniquely styled frame, offering a floating picture, touch screen and over 2,000 preinstalled art images that will look fantastic on the 19-inch high-resolution display. The Pictura also features a clock, alarm, photo-scheduler and handles video and audio files. 15-inch, 17-inch or 19-inch LCD display, 4:3 aspect ratio, 1280x1024 display resolution, supports JPG, BMP and audio and video (MPEG) files, built-in 2 GB memory, touch screen and remote control, 2,000 preinstalled images.

Pixxa Mirror/Pictura Mirror: Chameleon Frame ($250-450 contact Ality to buy)
Just like it sounds, Ality has taken its Pixxa and Pictura models and made them double as mirrors. So when you're not displaying images, you're checking out your latest sketchy haircut. It's a great way to blend the frame into your home when it's not in use -- far better than a blank dark screen on the wall, no? The specifications match up to the specific Pixxa and Pictura models.

ality_classica.jpg
Classica: Warm and Classic (Amazon $129.99)
Built like an old-fashioned (ha!) picture frame, the Classica will look right at home in your home. A warm, wood-colored frame and soft white mat showcase your photos with all the high technology you expect. Remember, this frame only works with memory cards, it does not connect to the computer. 8-inch LCD display, 16:9 aspect ratio (also offered in 4:3), 800x480 display resolution, supports JPG, BMP and audio and video (MPEG) files, remote control.

ality_moderna.jpg
Moderna: For Teak Lovers (Amazon $199.99)
This is some great modern styling with a wood panel design available in three tones -- think teak! It's got a high-resolution display, an auto-tilting screen (detects horizontal or vertical images and tilts the screen to best display them), clock, alarm, photo-scheduler and it handles video and audio files. 8-inch LCD display, 4:3 aspect ratio, 800x600 display resolution, supports JPG, BMP and audio and video (MPEG) files, remote control.
